The serious construction at HMCS Carleton began on Monday March 02. Initial stages involve the demolition of the Drill Deck and the construction of a "sprung shelter". The shelter will be located in the former parking lot right outside the new Cadet adminstration trailer along the cut for the "O" Train.
Parking will be available in two places. Paid parking is available in the lot right across Prince of Wales Drive in the NCC lot. Unpaid parking is available (after 5pm) at the Sir John Carling complex just up the hill. No parking will be available at Dow's Lake.
Construction sites will be fenced off and entrance to these areas is strickly forbidden. The only access to the Cadet administration trailer will be through the North side door. The other side will remain locked as it would allow access to the sprung shelter construction site.
The shelter is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, so should be available for use at the end of May.

With the contruction that is taking place at HMCS Carleton, parking is becoming more difficult as the weeks go by. It will only get worse!! Although our administration offices will remain at the base for the time being, the primary Corps training has had to be moved off site. Kingsmill to Cartier Square on Lisgar Street, and Falkland to the Canadian Reception Centre at Uplands airport. It will be several years before the new facilities are completed at Dow's Lake, but we will continue to provide the best alternate arrangements that can be made. An enormous THANK YOU goes out to the various elements of the Canadian Armed Forces who are helping us through this sitation.
