Local Training (Regular/Mandatory Training) 

Phase 1

First year of their training. An introduction to the naval atmosphere through co-operation and fun.

Qualification requirements

  • Citizenship Activity    
  • Community Service Activity    
  • Teamwork Activity     
  • Physical Activity 
  • Formal Parade     
  • CAF Engagement Activity     
  • PHASE lesson     
  • Track Physical Activity for 4 weeks     
  • Air Rifle Handling Test     
  • 18 Periods of Elemental Training     

Phase 2

Training includes the beginning of peer leadership and more advanced naval knowledge.

Qualification requirements
  • Citizenship Activity     
  • Community Service Activity     
  • Peer Leadership Activity     
  • Physical Activity     
  • Formal Parade 
  • CAF Engagement Activity     
  • PHASE lesson     
  • Track Physical Activity for 4 weeks     
  • 18 periods of elemental training

Phase 3

Developing a strong knowledge of Ship's Operations and the beginnings of instructional technique training, while increasing leadership abilities.

Qualification requirements
  • Citizenship Activity     
  • Community Service Activity     
  • Leadership Activity     
  • Physical Activity     
  • CAF Engagement Activity     
  • PHASE lesson     
  • Track Physical Activity for 4 weeks     
  • Direct a Squad Prior to a Parade (assessment)
  • Instruct a 15 Lesson (assessment)
  • Any 18 periods of elemental training      

Phase 4

The fourth year, with a heavy focus on leadership and instructional techniques. Also an introduction to charting and navigation.

  • Citizenship Activity     
  • Community Service Activity     
  • Team Leader Activity     .
  • Physical Activity     
  • Formal Parade     
  • CAF Engagement Activity     
  • PHASE lesson     
  • Track Physical Activity for 4 weeks     
  • 18 periods of elemental training     
  • Command a Division on Parade (assessment) 
  • Instruct a 30 Minute Lesson (assessment)



Advance Leadership Program

A two year, self-study program, with individual guidance from a mentor. Almost entirely on the job training, with minimal in-class training.
